Prior to World War II, Panhard is a large, well-known French automaker. It stops making passenger cars in 1967.

Today, Panhard continues to build vehicles, but only of the light-military variety.

2007 - A Panhard revival?

Per CEO Christian Streiff, PSA/ Peugeot-Citroen may revive the Panhard brand for a new range of premium vehicles based on shared platforms. With the release of six new models by 2010, and the reduction of fixed costs by 30%, PSA's next order of business may be to consider an implementation of Toyota's Lexus strategy, albeit with a brand that once carried sizeable cachet, and that remains fondly recalled in some circles.
